Duke of Edinburgh's display model collection

Postby Henry Tenby » Sat May 20, 2017 5:17 am

It seems the Duke of Edinburgh has donated some very nice models from his collection to the RAF Museum at Hendon, where I took these photos a few weeks ago.

Makes one wonder if he other models from the 1950s. These are lovely pieces. My favourite is the RAF Sabre, I wonder who the maker of that model was? It seems to be made of metal with nice inscription lines. Have never seen a model quite like that before.

I'd think these models would fetch a good dollar on ebay!

These are amazing models. There may be more.

The Duke was an avid aviation fan and a pilot himself, so I am sure you are right. He probably has an amazing model collection, and this is probably just the tip of the iceberg for his collection.
